calibrateBUMPS 2.0: Week 21-22

Writer: CaitCait

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums, soon-to-be mums, and mother figures! I hope you had a glorious weekend despite the rain and were appropriately showered with love and hugs.

This last week was our last full week before our first summer adventure. I used it to get the last of a full week of usual routine in before the routine goes out the window. I absolutely adore travelling and everything that comes with it so I'm not ever upset or thrown off by a change to routine, training, or any of that but it was good to mentally settle into a last week of routine before some true excitement. I'm very much more than fine with not training while on holiday or not sticking to a usual food intake. I love getting caught up in the adventure, the unknown, and the excitement of discovery. I was strict and disciplined with food, gym sessions, and getting a good mix of real down time (ie. reading or rewatching Veep), good Noah time, and work.

The only major pregnancy development this week is I've self diagnosed pregnancy rhinitis. My left sinus is just always a bit blocked which means I've have to blow my nose more in the last 4 weeks than I have my entire life. Luckily it's just the left side and luckily it's not severe to the point where I can't breathe through my nose. It's just a bit annoying and it probably won't go away until Baby J is earth side. By my calculations it means I'll have to blow my nose approximately 9000000 times between now and meeting the little guy.

I also still haven't had another fun pregnancy dream which I'm actually a bit sad about. I had a few great ones with Noah and so far nothing with Baby J...I'm only throwing this out into the world in the hopes of manifesting some solidly fun dreams in the next 18 weeks.

Training

Started off on Monday with a more pelvic floor focused full body strength day. That might sound a bit contradictory but essentially I did full body strength exercises but dropped weights and focused on full and proper pelvic floor contractions and holds whilst doing the exercises. Basically, I got bored of doing targeted pelvic floor work and decided I'd rather lift something (even if it was light) whilst doing some pelvic floor endurance work.

Tuesday was a big admin day so really not much to report there!

Wednesday and Friday I managed full body lifting days and even got a heavy strength session in on the Friday which I was very excited by! I woke up on Friday feeling strong for the first time in a long time so I used all that momentum and energy to my advantage!

A rainy Saturday and Sunday meant we got very wet steps in. Noah had the time of her life frolicking in the rain though.

Life in General

This little thing moves a lot, I'd like to say more than Noah did but I actually don't know if that's true or not and there's no way to fact check that so we'll just leave it with "a lot". Because we're still fairly early in pregnancy he's quite low in my abdomen which is both good and bad. Good because there's nothing worse than a kick to the ribs but bad because I feel like he just moves around and kicks my bladder a lot which is great fun and super comfortable. Luckily, like his older sister, he sleeps when I sleep so going to bed and staying asleep isn't a problem.

This week I did for the first time feel restricted breathing though. I notice it most in taxi's - I think it's to do with the pitch of the seats, it reclines just enough to be somewhat uncomfortable and make it a bit difficult to breathe properly. It's wonderful to know that that's only going to get worse.

Luckily I still have to weird food things and haven't noticed any aches or pains. I did go through a brief, 1 week, period of getting a few calf cramps in the middle of the night but an extra calcium supplement twice a day cut those out immediately.

I found with Noah it was easy to forget I was pregnant which helped a lot mentally in terms of not "acting pregnant". This time around it's a bit harder to forget. I think having a small human around is just a constant reminder that soon there will be two of them. It's made this pregnancy feel a lot longer than the first one which again is both good and bad.

All in all a very well balanced week! Looking forward to a fun week of work, packing stress (why is there always packing stress....?), and then finally getting on a plane to a new destination! Stay tuned for the location!

Have a solid week everyone!
